In not, why not? Whose to Blame?

Each heart knows its own bitterness,    and no one else can share its joy.

When I read this proverb the thoughts that go through my head are, ‘Why do we waste so much time and energy on waiting for others to make our hearts glad, and blaming them when they make our hearts sad’?
