The Avoider as a Survival Brain Saboteur

This week in our Weekly Wilderness Webinar we are going to explore our Survival Brain called the Saboteur. The main characteristics of this saboteur include:

Focusing on the positive and pleasant in an extreme way. Avoiding difficult and unpleasant tasks and conflicts:

So Avoiders often:

  • Avoid conflict and say yes to things one doesn’t really want to say yes to.
  • Downplay the importance of real problems and try to defend others.
  • Resist through passive aggression rather than dealing more directly with challenges or issues.
  • Get lost in comforting routines and habits
  • Procrastinating which then leads to feeling anxious things are not getting done.
