A proverb warns that enthusiasm or strong desire, if not guided by knowledge, can sometimes result in poor decisions, but I believe having passion is a great start. Add to that knowledge, wisdom, consistency and persistence and you are all the way there:

Desire without knowledge is not good—

    how much more will hasty feet miss the way!

Hasty feet can also make mistakes that means something will take longer than if you had slowed down a little first. Wisdom requires patience to unfold. Just as someone running without looking may take the wrong path, haste in life can cause us to miss opportunities or stray from our true purpose. Sometimes it takes time for us to arrive at our destination because we need to take time to transform along the way.
