When does ‘Sitting on your Proverbial Backside’ give you a Life full of Painful Prickles?

Is it true that:

The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns,

but the path of the upright is a highway.

How would we describe procrastination?

Avoiding difficult and unpleasant tasks and relationship conflicts because they are too unpleasant, and maybe if let go will take care of itself.

Procrastination as a way of avoiding life’s ups and downs and can come from having been overprotected or under protected as a child:

Overprotected from developing resilience to deal with tough situations and decisions.

Under protected and often in the middle of parental, family or friend conflict with feelings powerless to transform the situation and make it better, or the to make the shouting stop.

Procrastinators having chosen a ‘freeze’ response to stress, sabotage themselves with an overload of anxiety about what has been avoided which thus becomes more crippling. Sadly, what is avoided doesn’t go away, but festers.

On a more hopeful note, taking on life with a passion that comes from authenticity and integrity does not mean there are no thorns, but the path ahead is well lit and wide with opportunity.
